Poland is provoking discord with Germany as it seeks to pursue its geopolitical ambitions in Europe, writes researcher Uriel Araujo in an article for InfoBRICS.

According to the author, Warsaw's anti-German campaign is intensifying, with the "grievances" from World War II turning into "weapons." Araujo believes that the United States is promoting Poland's ambitions for regional hegemony primarily as a counter to Germany, while Warsaw also benefits from this situation.

"In doing so, Poland seeks to establish itself as a new geopolitical center of the EU, simultaneously challenging Germany's leading role on the continent," he writes. Araujo finds it "ironic" that Germany, whose contribution to the EU budget was the highest among all member states, has played a significant role in enabling countries like Poland to develop through its disproportionately large financial contributions to the European budget.

"Therefore, according to this reasoning, Warsaw aims to extract maximum financial and economic benefits from its EU membership at the expense of its 'allies,' especially Germany," Araujo points out.

He argues that for decades, Poland has pursued its own interests, refusing to contribute to the construction of intra-European relations.

"In any case, Polish-German and intra-European tensions are likely to continue to escalate because the Polish government uses anti-German sentiments, as it does with Russophobia, in its rewriting of history. This tension reflects the crisis in European narratives, as well as ideological and geopolitical contradictions on the continent," the author concludes.
