Kylian Mbappé condemns the death of a 17-year-old after a police action
Berlin - French football superstar Kylian Mbappé has responded with emotional words to the death of a 17-year-old in the Paris suburb of Nanterre. "I am sorry for my France. An unacceptable situation. All my thoughts go to Naël's family and loved ones, this little angel who left us too soon," tweeted the 24-year-old striker from Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning champions.
Severe riots erupted in Nanterre following a fatal police shooting of a 17-year-old driver during a traffic stop. A motorcycle patrol had stopped the car with three occupants on Tuesday morning.
A video verified by France Info shows one of the officers aiming his weapon at the driver's door of the stationary car. The situation appears to be under control, with no signs of frantic movements. However, when the 17-year-old suddenly starts driving, the officer fires at close range, fatally hitting the teenager in the chest. The car then continues to drive for a few meters before crashing into a road barrier.
