Russian Government Approves List of Seeds That May Face Import Restrictions
The Russian government has approved a list of agricultural crop seeds, the import of which from unfriendly countries may be restricted from October 1 to December 31, 2023. The corresponding resolution was published on the official legal information portal.
"Approve the attached list of specific goods, for which quantitative restrictions on imports from foreign states and territories engaging in unfriendly actions against the Russian Federation, Russian legal entities, and individuals may be applied from October 1 to December 31, 2023," the resolution states.
The list includes seed potatoes, seed wheat and meslin, seed rye, seed barley, seed corn, seed soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower seeds, and sugar beet seeds. The Ministry of Agriculture has been tasked with submitting proposals to the government regarding the quota volumes for the import of these seed categories and the rules for their distribution, if necessary.
