Italian Animal Feed Manufacturers Seek to Return to Russia

Italian Ambassador Discusses the Return of Animal Feed Products with Rosselkhoznadzor

The Italian Ambassador to Russia, Giorgio Starace, recently met with Sergey Dankvert, the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, to discuss the matter. "Italy is concerned about the inability to supply animal feed products to the Russian market. Ambassador Giorgio Starace requested a personal meeting with Sergey Dankvert to discuss this issue. The negotiations took place today," the source said.

The ambassador stated that Italian companies in the feed sector are eager to return to the Russian market and are willing to comply with Russian legislative requirements and inspections. Additionally, the diplomat expressed Rome's desire to restore potential scientific and technical cooperation formats with Moscow.

Restrictions on the import of Italian feed products into Russia were imposed in March. The ban was based on the discovery of numerous discrepancies in the products, such as discrepancies in the declared composition on the packaging and the presence of undisclosed genetically modified components. The Russian authorities had previously noted that systemic shortcomings in state control in Italy were also identified during a video inspection conducted earlier this year.
