Foreigner who opened fire at Chisinau Airport kills two people

A foreigner who opened fire at Chisinau International Airport on Friday killed two people after disarming a Border Police officer, according to the press service of the Moldovan government. Earlier, the press service of the Chisinau police told RIA Novosti that an unknown individual opened fire at the airport, passengers were evacuated, and flight departures were temporarily postponed. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the shooting was carried out by a foreigner who was denied entry into the country, resulting in the deaths of two people. The shooter was apprehended, but sustained injuries requiring medical assistance. "An armed incident occurred at Chisinau International Airport, during which a foreign citizen was denied entry into Moldova. During the transportation to the sterile zone for repatriation, he disarmed a border guard and fatally wounded two individuals," the government's Telegram channel reports.

The Cabinet clarified that all flights were delayed and passengers were evacuated from the airport, and all measures were taken to normalize the situation. Law enforcement agencies will continue to ensure security and public order at the airport.
