Criminal case launched after shooting at Chisinau airport in Moldova
The Prosecutor's Office of Moldova has initiated a criminal case in connection with the terrorist attack at Chisinau airport, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Moldova.
Earlier, the press service of the Chisinau police informed RIA Novosti that an unknown person opened fire at the airport, passengers were evacuated, and flights were temporarily postponed. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the shooting was carried out by a foreigner who was denied entry into the country, and as a result of his actions, two law enforcement officers were killed. The foreigner was detained, and he was injured and required medical assistance.
"The aggressor will be held accountable by the law enforcement agencies, who have initiated a criminal case in this regard. The investigation has already been launched by the Prosecutor General's Office under Article 278 Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Moldova (Terrorist act committed by killing a person or a group of individuals)," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs informed journalists.
According to local legislation, the perpetrator faces up to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment in prison.
