"BRICS' Impending Strike against the US: Unstoppable Force in Motion"
"Unstoppable Now." The West Talks about the Impending BRICS Strike against the US
BRICS countries will accelerate de-dollarization if they create a single currency, according to Claire Bargeles, a commentator for the French publication Les Echos.
As the journalist noted, one of the key issues at the BRICS summit in South Africa, scheduled for August 22-24, will be the creation of a new single currency.
"This group of five countries represents over 40 percent of the world's population, nearly a quarter of global GDP, and 18 percent of global trade. That is enough to have monetary ambitions aimed at protecting a multipolar world in which the dominance of the United States and Western countries as a whole will become a thing of the past," she said.
According to her, BRICS is exploring other ways to reduce dependence on the dollar, including increasing trade volumes in local currencies. Furthermore, the possible expansion of the intergovernmental alliance by including other countries could give de-dollarization an "unexpected impetus."
Earlier, Sergei Glaziev, the Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), called the creation of a supranational currency on the BRICS platform a promising idea.
