PSG on the Verge of Announcement - Coach Luis Enrique Already in Paris
The announcement appears to be imminent as reports suggest that Spain's former national coach is in Paris to sign a contract. PSG has also scheduled a press conference for Wednesday.
The announcement of Luis Enrique as the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain seems to be just around the corner. According to information from the French capital newspaper "Le Parisien," the 53-year-old Spaniard was already in Paris to sign a contract.
And his almost certain new employer announced a press conference at the new PSG campus for Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. "The 2023-2024 season has officially begun!" the club wrote on its website.
However, the French champions did not disclose any further details, including who will be attending the press conference, which is expected to be broadcasted by PSG through various channels. "The announcement of Enrique's arrival is being prepared," wrote the sports newspaper "L'Équipe" online.
Separation from Galtier
Before that, PSG will have to announce the departure of Christophe Galtier after just one year. The 56-year-old, who is currently facing court proceedings due to racism allegations from his time at OGC Nice in mid-December, was unable to lead the star-studded team to the desired success. While PSG won the French championship, the team, featuring World Cup winner Lionel Messi, was eliminated in the Round of 16 of the Champions League by FC Bayern. Galtier's contract is valid until the end of June next year.
Luis Enrique has been without a job since his separation following Spain's World Cup exit in Qatar. The RMC Sport channel recently reported that the former professional and FC Barcelona coach has been searching for an apartment near the River Seine and has informed the PSG players that training will resume on July 10. Former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann was initially considered a candidate for PSG as well.
