Climate Activists Cause Interruption at Wimbledon

London - The tennis tournament at Wimbledon was disrupted by climate activists. Two members of the group Just Stop Oil stormed onto Court 18 during the match between Grigor Dimitrov and Sho Shimabukuro.

A woman scattered confetti and puzzle pieces while a man sat down on the grass. Both were escorted away by security personnel, and the court was cleaned using leaf blowers.

"After an incident on Court 18, two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass and criminal damage and have now been removed from the premises," tweeted the Wimbledon organizers. "The match on the court was temporarily suspended, and following a rain delay, the game will soon resume."

In anticipation of protests, security checks at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club were heightened this year. This led to long queues at the entrance during the first three days. Stewards were instructed to conduct thorough searches of all bags. The activists had smuggled the confetti and puzzle pieces inside a puzzle box depicting an image of the Center Court.
