Copenhagen Shooter Ordered to Psychiatric Detention
In July 2022, three people were shot dead in a Copenhagen shopping center. The perpetrator was apprehended at the scene by the police and has been in custody since then. Now, the verdict against him has been announced.
One year after the deadly rampage in a Copenhagen shopping center, the 23-year-old assailant has been sentenced to confinement in a highly secure psychiatric facility. He was found guilty on all charges by the Copenhagen City Court.
The court concluded in its judgment that the Danish perpetrator had planned the attack. The 23-year-old will now be placed in a high-security psychiatric institution known as "Sikringen" for an indefinite period. This facility is reserved for the most dangerous convicts with mental illnesses. He has the option to appeal the verdict within two weeks, but whether he will do so remains uncertain, as stated by his defense attorney after the ruling.
