Arrest Near Obama's House: Prosecution Links Suspect to Trump
In the course of the investigation into a man who was arrested near the residence of former US President Barack Obama, the prosecution has established a connection to a post on the internet by his successor, Donald Trump. The man was apprehended last week in a residential neighborhood in the US capital, Washington, and weapons and ammunition were found in his vehicle. The prosecution requested that Taylor T. be kept in custody until the start of the trial and outlined the events leading up to the arrest in their application.
According to the prosecution, the man shared a post by Trump on Truth Social. Truth Social, co-founded by Trump, serves as a Twitter alternative for Republicans. In the specific post shared by Trump, which Taylor T. also shared, an article is referenced that includes Obama's address. Taylor T. commented on the Trump post, saying, "We have these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta's and Obama's." John Podesta was the campaign chairman for the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Authorities: "Highly Concerning"
According to the prosecution, Taylor T. was later seen near the mentioned address and simultaneously livestreamed it on the internet. "While walking around, he made several disturbing statements," it said. He also reportedly mentioned seeking a good angle for a shot. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had already been monitoring the individual because he had entered the Capitol during the January 6, 2021, insurrection.
Will There be an Arrest of Trump?
Authorities have issued a warning: "T. appears to have delusional beliefs that are incompatible with reality." His history and recent behavior are deemed "highly concerning." It is crucial that he remain in custody due to a "high flight risk" and a "danger to the public."
