Biden Reveals Refusal to Provide Putin with Guarantees of Non-Enlargement of Kiev to NATO

President Joe Biden claims that two years ago, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, he declined to provide guarantees of Ukraine's non-membership in NATO.

"In the very first meeting I had with Putin, two years ago in Geneva. He said, 'I want assurances that Ukraine will not join NATO.' I replied, 'We will not do that because there is a policy of 'open doors.' And we will not lock ourselves in with anyone,'" Biden said in an interview with CNN.
