Finland Tightens Entry Restrictions for Russian Citizens

As of midnight on Monday, Finland will tighten entry into the country for Russian businessmen, students, and property owners, according to the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"The restrictions for business travelers, property owners, and students will be tightened... The new restrictions will come into effect on July 10, 2023, at 00:00 and will remain in place until further notice," the statement said.

Business travelers will only be allowed entry into Finland, without the possibility of transit to other countries. In addition, Russian travelers on business must state the reason why their personal presence in Finland is necessary, clarified the Finnish ministry.

Similarly, property owners will have to justify the need to visit the country in person.

Students will be allowed to participate in educational programs leading to a degree or qualification, or as part of a qualification (e.g., exchange studies). Restrictions, however, exclude attending courses, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

These restrictions will be implemented for an indefinite period, as stated in the announcement.
