Record-Breaking Heat of Over 52 Degrees Celsius in Northwestern China

 

A new heat record has been set in China. In the remote village of Sanbao in northwestern China, the temperature soared to 52.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to state media reports. The previous highest temperature recorded in the country was 50.3 degrees Celsius in 2015.

 

This development has raised concerns of a potential repeat of last year's drought. China experienced its worst drought in 60 years in 2022.
 

China and USA Join Forces in the Fight Against Global Warming
 

China and the United States are planning to collaborate in the fight against global warming, despite significant political differences. The US Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, will hold talks with his Chinese counterpart, Xie Zhenhua, on Monday.
 

Prior to the negotiations, Kerry emphasized the need for progress in the four months leading up to the next global climate summit in Dubai. He urged China to reduce methane emissions and mitigate the impact of coal-fired power generation on the climate.
